USBC Rule #18 General Playing Rules Bowling Ball - Altering Surface While bowling in USBC competition, a bowling ball cannot: a. Have the surface altered by the use of an abrasive. b. Be cleaned with any liquid substance or cleaning agent. c. Have any foreign material on it including, but not limited to, powder, rosin, marker or paint. All bowling balls so altered or cleaned must be removed from the competition.
USBC Weight Hole Rule If there is an hole in any bowling ball, it MUST be used for gripping purposes on every shot thrown with that ball. You may NOT have a balance hole. If you are throwing no thumb, you CANNOT have a thumb hole to use for instance when you want the ball to go straighter such as a spare shot.
Tournament Rules
RULE #1 If a bowler has a sport or challenge league average, It must be converted to a "house" condition average. That adjusted average must be used if, after adjustment, it is the highest league average. No composite averages will be used.
RULE #2 If your average has been 15 or more pins higher in the last 10 years it MUST be reported to the tournament manager before bowling.

The association P.F.E.N.B.A., was formed to promote and run a national bowling tournament for Postal & Federal employees, members of the armed forces and retirees from the postal service, federal sector and the military.
Terre Haute, Indiana hosted our first bowling tournament in 1935.
Since 1935, our association has successfully hosted 86 national tournaments in cities such as Philadelphia, PA., St. Louis, MO., Chicago, IL., Windsor, ONT., Louisville, KY., Detroit MI., and Indianapolis, IN..
This handicap tournament is open to any team consisting of five women or five men and having at least three current or retired postal, federal employee, active or retired member of the armed forces, or tournament five year member in any combination.
Addison, Illinois will host the 2025 National Bowling tournament that will begin the weekend of April 18th and runs through June 14th.
Singles and Doubles events are bowled on Saturdays with the team event scheduled for Sundays.
The Robert Oaks SR. Mixed Doubles Tournament is bowled on the Friday nights before the Annual Tournament.
